Huntington Beach Kite Party – 2011
The Huntington Beach Kite Party is this weekend, March 12-13. The event is held on the beach just north of the Huntington Beach Pier. The event is sponsored by the Kite Connection, which has a location right on the pier.
Professional kite fliers come from all over the world to show off their skills. An area next to the pier is roped off for the professionals. However, you can bring your own kite or buy one at the Kite Connection and fly it anywhere outside of the roped area on the beach. Don’t have a kite? No problem, for spectators, the event is FREE!
My wife and I attended the event last year and it was so much fun. We parked a couple of blocks from the pier (free), then stopped by at Mangiamo for the best gelato in Orange County. Walked over to the pier and watched a great kite show. This is a perfect family event. The photo you see above was taken at last year’s event.
